Land clearing burns and outdoor burning of yard debris is temporarily banned. This ban does not apply to small recreational fires in established fire pits at approved campgrounds or private property with the owner’s permission. The use of gas, propane, charcoal or pellet self-contained stoves, smokers and barbecues are allowed.

Effective 7/11/2024 at 0001 hours: All debris burning on DNR jurisdiction is prohibited. This includes rule burning and permit burning. Campfires are also prohibited. These authorizations apply only to state forests, state parks, and private forest lands protected by the DNR. Contact the county Fire Department for information on recreational burning on improved property, as additional restrictions may be in place. Fireworks, and incendiary devices, such as exploding targets, sky lanterns or tracer ammunition are illegal on all DNR protected lands. Contact Department of Ecology or local Clean Air Authority to check if an air-quality ban is in place for your area.
